Plumstead Township Police The Plumstead Township Police Department is comprised of sixteen full-time police officers. The structure of the staff is currently made up of the Chief of Police, (1) Lieutenant, (4) Patrol Sergeants, (2) Detectives and (8) Patrol Officers.

The police department is divided up into three categories: Administrative, Investigative, and Patrol.

Police Administration
The Administrative Division of the police department is comprised of the Chief of Police, a Lieutenant who also assists with administrative duties, a non-uniform administrative assistant to the chief, a non-uniform police clerk, and the crossing guard.

The administrative staff's duties include policy development, emergency planning, monthly state and federal reporting, insurance issues, and the handling of civilian complaints. Additionally, Police administration manages the Township's computer systems and public safety record keeping.

A crossing guard is employed with the responsibility of securing the safety of the children that walk or ride their bicycles to Gayman Elementary School.

A crossing guard is employed on a part time basis to assist with traffic control on Burnt House Hill Road. The sole responsibility of the guard is to secure the safety of the children that walk or ride their bicycles to the Gayman Elementary School.

Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest, most active and most important part of the Police department. They are the first-line officers that deal with the public on an everyday basis. All of the officers within a patrol division are responsible for the daily service calls, traffic accidents, traffic enforcement, and residential & business patrol.

Investigative Division
The Investigative Division is charged with investigating the more complex and time intensive cases, such as narcotics investigations, sexual assaults and internet and white collar crimes.

The Department is an active participant in the Central Bucks Youth Diversion Program and the Explorers Post and participate in many community policing details such as Coffee with a Cop, Pack the Patrol Car and Shop with a Cop. The Department has a specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit and a Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection Unit. Several officers are assigned to the County MIRT (Major Incident Response Team) Team - a 125-man field force.

Officers are also assigned to the Central Bucks Special Response Team, responding to critical incidents in the Central Bucks area. The Department is also involved in the Bucks Police Assisting in Recovery (BPAIR), a county-wide initiative to assist those with substance use disorders. The Department implemented the multi-jurisdictional Supporting Treatment and Recovery Program (STAR) and the Victim Services Unit.
