The Plumstead Township Historic Advisory Committee was formed in 2002 to advise the Board of Supervisors on issues that effect historic resources.  The committee also gathers historic information about the Township and provides history education to the public.

The Board of Supervisors relies on the Committee to:

  • to assist and advise on historic preservation ordinances for review and approval by the Board
  • to review pre-submission, preliminary plans and/or land development plans to determine the development's impact on historic structures
  • to review demolition permits or advise on restoration matters that affect historic resources
  • to review building and zoning permit applications regarding structures that have historic integrity as outlined in the historic site surveys
  • to review sign applications that pertain to historic buildings, most notably buildings located in the VC or VR districts.  The type of lighting and size would be regulated.
  • to review plans for older and/or historic bridges that are to be restored or upgraded by other governmental agencies
  • to provide advice on other issues that affect historic structures on a case by case basis.
